Father’s Day is just around the corner and we know that the struggle is real – what do you get Dad for Father’s Day? Why not take him out for an experience instead of another tie or Starbucks card (not that the latter is a bad idea!) We got the scoop on some fun activities that Dad will appreciate and won’t make the kids bored.
The Port of Seattle is teaming up with the Pacific Northwest Fleet of the Classic Yacht Association to bring the Bell Street Pier Classic Rendezvous. On Friday, June 15, over 40 classic motor yachts (many of which were built before World War II!) will be a part of the Sail-In Parade along the Downtown Seattle Waterfront toward Bell Harbor. (Rumor has it that the best place to view is from Myrtle Edwards Park between 2:00-4:00 p.m. The yachts will then be on display the rest of the weekend. Many of the boats will be available for boarding. This is something special as it will be largest grouping of classic motor yachts in the world. The event runs from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. both days and the event is free!
The Washington Beer Commission is presenting its 13th Annual Washington Brewer’s Festival June 15-17 at King County’s Marymoor Park. More than 500 beers will be served along with a great mix of food truck food, live music and activities for the kids. Food trucks on the schedule include Athena’s Food Truck, Big Dog’s, Buddha Bruddah, Freeland Tamales, Kautzman Kettle Corn, Kornman of WA, MacDaddys Gourmet Grub, Nosh, Pompeii Wood Fired Pizza, Redmond’s Bar & Grill, Skillet Street Food, Snout & Co., Street Donuts, TABASSUM, The Grilled Cheese Experience, Where Ya At Matt and Wood Shop BBQ. Kids will get a kick out of the festivities as well which includes pit-sized entertainment, a root beer garden, inflatable too, balloon animals, face painting and a craft tent.
The free Fenders on Front Street event happens on Father’s Day, from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Motorcycles welcome! Come early for the Father’s Day and Fenders Breakfast from 7:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. The breakfast includes scrambled eggs (Mexi-Style or Plain), ham, sausage, potatoes, biscuits & sausage gravy, fresh fruit, coffee and juice $9 adults, $5 kids and half-orders. Then, head on over to Front Streetto watch the classic cars to roll in. The event includes live music, family activities and even an afternoon “cruise” to the Triple XXX restaurant.
On Sunday June 17th, all dads will get a free 70-minute train ride (with any paid child’s ticket) beginning at the Northwest Railway Museum in North Bend. Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis on Saturday or Sunday. There are no advanced ticket sales. The event often sells out so you are recommended to arrive 45-60 minutes before your preferred departure time which leave 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m., and 4:45 p.m.
Argosy Cruises says to bring dad, grandpa and the whole gang for their Hops with Pops on the Harbor Tour happening on June 16. All of the classic Seattle waterfront views and mountain ranges enhanced by the sipping of a variety of local beers. Each ticket comes with four 4 oz. beer tasters from local breweries. Cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages and snacks will also be available for purchase too.
