As to be expected, Seattle is not in shortage of shopping centers. There are many to choose from, but the local malls may be your best option. Most offer free parking and the ones that don’t are close by local transit options. You’ll find a large selection of shops and services at each of the following locations so you can spend less time on the road, more stores to compare your fashion options and plenty of eating establishments and coffee shops to keep you going.

Westlake Center is located in the heart of DowntownSeattle and is close by many of the iconic shops like Macy’s and Nordstrom and is easy to get to via the Monorail via the Seattle Center or just about anywhere else via the Seattle Transit Tunnel. While this mall has always been a destination mall, recent changes and additions are making it even more so. The multi-level renovation is expected to be completed during the fall of 2017. New retailers and restaurants for the mall include the first Seattle location of Saks OFF 5th and a brand new food hall (including Pressed Juicery, Charley’s Subs, Pizza Studio, Suki Hana and Wokaholic). The mall is also home to local favorites like Fireworks, Made in Washington, P.F. Chang’s Bistro and more.

University Village is located right by the University of Washington and is about ten minutes away from downtown Seattle. It boasts of being “Seattle’s only outdoor lifestyle shopping center” meaning that in addition to lots of shops and restaurants that you would expect to find here, you’ll also find many services and hotels as well – more than 120 to be exact. Highlights including the second oldest Starbucks location (which opened in 1972), Room & Board, Pottery Barn Kids, Restoration Hardware and more. Instead of one big building, shoppers can get some fresh air between shopping destinations and enjoy the different gardens and fountains along the way. Granted, you will probably do a little more walking than you would at a traditional mall, but on a beautiful day in Seattle, you can’t beat it.
Located south of Seattle in Tukwila, Westfield Southcenter is the largest mall in the state. Though it only features four anchor stores (Macy’s JC Penney, Nordstrom and Sears), the mall boasts of over 215 shops and services including a Microsoft store, Disney Store, Pandora, Lush, J. Crew and new offerings like Build-A-Bear Workshop, Din Tai Fung restaurant and 85 C Bakery. Other places were noting are the 16 screen AMC movie theater and the iFly adventure center located near the mall.

You may not be aware of this, but Northgate Mall was the first regional shopping mall in the United States which opened in 1950. Despite its age, today the mall looks fantastic, largely due to recent renovations including an expanded parking lot. The mall is also well connected to Seattle busses and a new light rail station is almost done with completion. The mall features favorites like Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, Macy’s, JCPenney, XXI Forever, Lane Bryant, Finish Line, Gymboree, Old Navy, Barnes and Noble, Bed, Bath and Beyond along with 12 full service restaurants and over 12 quick bite shops.
