Located directly under Minoru Yamasaki’s white arches that were first erected in 1962 for the upcoming Seattle World’s Fair on the grounds of the Seattle Center, you’ll find the Pacific Science Center which will entertain everyone in the whole family while educating them at the same time. The Center has hosted a number of traveling exhibits including one for Lego, a Sherlock Holmes-inspired exhibit and the more recent, Terracotta Warriors exhibit. Permanent exhibits include:

Professor Wellbody’s Academy of Health & Wellness
“In the imaginative world of Professor Wellbody, discover how personal choices affect health and wellbeing through inventions and activities that present the lifelong process of balancing exercise, diet, proper rest and hygiene.”

Body Works
At Body Works, you’ll be able to test your reaction time, see how much energy you can burn on the Calorie Bicycles, play a game in the Nutrition Café and enjoy the many other interactive displays.

Science On a Sphere
This impressive display presents animated images of atmosphere, oceans and land on a six-foot-wide sphere.

Puget Sound Model
See how real tides and currents affect the Puget Sound at the 100 square foot model of the Soud.

Science has never been so fun before. Here you’ll learn how an electric motor works, understand what a gyroscope does, be challenged to a bubble race and more.”

Outdoor Exhibits
Even on cloudy days, outside of the Center can be fun too. Spin a two-ton granite ball with your bare hands, play with water cannons or walk in the giant water wheel in Water Works. Nearby, ride the High Rail Bicycle 15 ft. above the ground — on a rail only one inch wide!

Tropical Butterfly House
The Tropical Butterfly House is open all year rounds and kept at a toasty 80 or so degrees with 60-70% humidity – perfect for the butterflies’ survival. There are many butterflies to see and enjoy here – a spot you don’t want to miss.

Dinosaurs: A Journey Through Time
Travel back to in time to meet dinosaurs from the Mesozoic Era, stand in the footprint of a giant duckbill dinosaur and take control of the Pneumoferrosaurus to see how animatronic dinosaurs work.

IMAX and Laser Dome Theaters
The Pacific Science Center features two state-of-the-art IMAX theaters that play both science-related films as well as many of the current blockbuster films. They also have the largest and longest-playing “laser domes” which features a fusion of 15,000 watts of digital sound.
