You don’t have to travel far to experience a whole different world when you live in Seattle. Whether you travel north, south, east or west, there is plenty to see and do. Here are just a few of the places worth visiting soon whether you go as a family, need a couple’s getaway or just a personal adventure.
“It’s not just a day trip anymore,” boasts the Visit Poulsbo website. Located at the north Kitsap Peninsula, Poulsbo is known by many as “Little Norway” which features a variety of shops, bistros, breweries, museums, galleries, antique stores and more along the town’s waterfront. Poulsbo is easily walkable but is also a great place for biking, boating, camping, fishing and even bird-watching. There are plenty of family and pet-friendly hotels to stay at as well.
It is not uncommon to leave your home in the rain only to find things sunny and bright in the foothills of the Cascade Mountain Range where the Bavarian village known as Leavenworth is located. Nearly every building here is decked out with a Bavarian flair, the music in Downtown has a German accent and many of the shopkeepers wear traditional clothing. Leavenworth is a wonderland any time of the year. The colors during the fall are beautiful, the snow and Christmas lights are truly festive during the winter, and the spring time and summer provides for a much-needed respite from the Seattle rainy weather. Enjoy authentic Wienerschnitzel and sauerkraut along with locally made beer. Enjoy viewing the town’s Glockenspiel, the 96-foot tall handcrafted Maipole, the nutcracker museum and the Alp Horn greeting played every morning. In addition to the various activities found in town like swimming, miniature golf, movies, video game arcade and more, there are plenty of trails and the Icicle River to explore.
While Victoria B.C. is a bit of drive, the most enjoyable way to travel there is probably aboard the Victoria Clipper which leaves from the Seattle waterfront daily. Whether you go for the day or for the weekend, the Clipper offers a variety of travel packages that are quite affordable. Located on the southern end of Vancouver Island, Victoria has the charms of England with colonial architecture and beautiful gardens. You’ll feel as if you are much farther away than you really are. Much of the city’s best attractions are within walking distance from many of the waterfront hotels including the Royal B.C. Museum, the Pacific Undersea Gardens and Miniature World. Other sights like the famed Butchart Gardens are easy to get to via public transportation.
Great Wolf Lodge
The Great Wolf Lodge in Grand Mound, Washington is a huge, mostly indoor, family-focused adventure resort known mostly for its huge indoor water park. Built with families of smaller children in mind, older kids will enjoy the grounds too as there are many activities on the premises that they can enjoy as well. Though not the cheapest accommodations, every stay includes access to all of the water park slides and activities, unlimited WiFi, the fitness center, kids’ activities, story time events with large furry characters, and the great clock tower show located in the lobby. Other actives available (for an additional fee) included the Howlers Peak Ropes Course, spas, mini golf, video arcade, “Compass Quest” and “MagiQuest” and plenty more. All rooms are very nice and surprisingly quiet which is perfect when trying to get your kids to wind down so that they can sleep.

It’s been a long time coming, but finally the old viaduct is coming
"One of their team members stopped by my house on Lake Sammamish just two days before my property was to be sold at auction. I told them that I was under water and couldn’t sell. He insisted that I speak with Ky DeWald and Adam Mickelson to see if there was anything that could be done. I finally agreed. They were able to not only stop my auction and get me another 90 days in my house but also put over $125,000.00 in my pocket and sold my house for $1,550,000.00!!! I couldn’t be happier!!! Thanks guys for all the help!"
