Anything that is weird, wacky or wonderful, you’ll find it in Seattle. From pop culture to comic books and from practical jokes to Mickey Mouse watches, pop culture is alive and well in Seattle. The greater Seattle area is home to one of the largest producers of pop culture products in the world, the oldest comic book store and one of the best novelty shops of all kinds.

Golden Age Collectibles

1501 Pike Place in Seattle 98101 - 206) 622-9799

You can find comic book stores everywhere, but the oldest one in America can be found at the Pike Place Market at Golden Age Collectibles. The store has been in its same location (#401 on the lower level) since 1971 selling over a quarter of a million back issues of various comics, movie scripts, figurines, posters, life-size standees, photos of movie and TV stars, vintage toys, and a whole lot more. You don’t need to be a comic book fan to enjoy this store. Everyone is friendly and there is so much to look at.

About a half hour north of Seattle, you’ll find the headquarters for Funko where you’ll find Funko figures celebrating just about every form of pop culture from movies, TV, cartoons, video games  and even breakfast cereals. Funko also stocks lots of t-shirts, key chains and other pop culture goodness. Throughout the store you’ll find larger-than-characters from your childhood like The Jetsons, Space Jam and Huckleberry Hound. Themed areas include “Gotham” (DC Comics like Batman and Wonder Woman), Disney, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Marvel superheroes, Funko’s own line of Wetmore Forest critters and even a “Build Your Own POP” creation station.

In addition, all proceeds from all purchases support the museum's ongoing educational and outreach efforts.

Archie McPhees

1300 N. 45th St., Seattle, WA 98103 - (206) 297-98103

Archie McPhees offers online shopping, but to get the full experience, you really need to see the store. Here you’ll find many odd and strange things up close and in person. Just don’t expect elegance here. Where else are you going to find the Nancy Pearl Librarian Action Figure or a Punching Nun puppet or The Crazy Cat Lady Game? Since 1983, Archie McPhees has proudly sold some of the weirdest stuff out there. You’ll be sure to find that perfect gift for the one who has everything since you can never have too many pairs of underwear made for squirrels.

Ye Olde Curiosity Shop

1001 Alaskan Way, Seattle, WA 98119 - (206) 682-5844

Before the Space Needle. Before Woodland Park Zoo. Before the Seattle Aquarium. Even before the automobile replaced the horse and buggy, there was Ye Olde Curiosity Shop. In addition to finding a large assortment of trinkets and goofy gifts, you’ll find a mini museum of the weird featuring a walrus skull with three tusks, the vertebra of the world’s largest whale, shrunken heads, mummies, natural oddities, taxidermy treasures and who-knows-what. Located on the waterfront, this is a place that needs to be seen to be believed.
